Cornwall Council is inviting members of the Cornwall Mining Alliance and related stakeholders to comment on the draft Minerals Safeguarding Plan for Cornwall.

Cornwall Council is publishing the Minerals Safeguarding Development Plan Document (DPD) for an eight week consultation period between Monday 12th June and 5pm Monday 7th August 2017.

The Minerals Safeguarding DPD proposes to safeguard mineral resources and infrastructure within Mineral Safeguarding Areas. The inclusion of land within a Mineral Safeguarding Area carries no presumption that mineral development would be acceptable or that planning permission would be forthcoming. Nor would the policy represent a veto on other forms of development taking place; it would enable development to be undertaken where it can be demonstrated that one or more of the policy criteria can be met.

Copies of the document and supporting evidence can be downloaded from www.cornwall.gov.uk/mineralsdpd from 12th June 2017. Hard copies will also be made available for inspection at designated venues. Representations on the consultation document should be submitted via the online survey or ‘Representation Form’ which can be downloaded from the website.

If you have any queries regarding the consultation please contact a member of the Planning Policy Team by phoning 0300 1234 151 or by emailing localplan@cornwall.gov.uk.
