Company Profile
As a social and stakeholder engagement specialist, I help clients develop socially responsible mining projects. I have multidisciplinary experience working on social and environmental projects over the past fifteen years. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and a Chartered Scientist. I have worked on a wide range of mining projects for different commodities undertaking work across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The focus of my work is to help clients identify, understand and manage social impacts in accordance with International Finance Corporation Performance Standards (IFC PS’s) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
My work has included project managing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA’s), developing social baselines and social impact assessments (SIA), writing and implementing environmental and social management plans, delivering successful stakeholder and community engagement plans, assessing the public perception of mining projects, undertaking social due diligence work and audits, developing reports on mine workers accommodation, and contributing to Competent Person’s Reports.
I work with a diverse range of stakeholders on international mining projects, helping clients manage social risks in addition to avoiding human rights impacts. Previously, I have also worked on a large EU funded project assessing the socio-economic and environmental impacts of mining projects across a range of European and Russian sites. I have a PG Cert in teaching in higher education and have lectured across different subject areas in addition to having a wide range of experience as a project/training facilitator. I have designed and delivered training courses on various subject areas, including courses on developing mentoring and capacity building programmes to enhance project performance. I have presented my work to a wider range of audiences, including addressing human rights considerations in line with the UN Guiding Principles, speaking recently at the Houses of Parliament on human rights impacts associated with access to water during project developments.
