Company Profile

Future Terrains is a social enterprise with a mission is to tackle the challenge of degraded lands by enhancing environmental and social performance and promoting landscape restoration.

From our practical experience of environmental and social good practice in the natural resources sector and our first-hand knowledge of many of the world’s most significant landscape restoration projects, we know that positive change is possible.

We work in some the most difficult places in the world and across discipline boundaries to create progressive solutions to environmental and social challenges, driven by good practice and a desire to challenge the status quo. Standing by the values of compassion, integrity, optimism, collaboration and people-focussed approaches, Future Terrains provides the following services to all life-stages of the natural resources sector, and from the boardroom to the coal face:

  • Landscape and ecological restoration
  • Mine closure and rehabilitation
  • Mining legacy and post-mining regeneration
  • Environmental and social audits to international standards
  • Environment and social management
  • Exploration best practice
  • CSR and sustainable development
  • Education and training
  • Research and development

In the past two years alone, Future Terrains has worked on mining and environmental projects on the ground in Cornwall, Devon, Chile, Sweden, Guinea, and – mainly – in Afghanistan.
